Pine Ridge Reservation

I have an ongoing ministry to the Oglala Lakota on the Pine Ridge reservation and other Native Americans. We also have a home to use as a base at the Oglala Re-Creation and Worship Center, I lived there for 5 years. We now live in nearby Rapid City, South Dakota.

The Pine Ridge Reservation in Shannon County, South Dakota is said to be the poorest in the United States Population: 36,000 Lakota people, one half of the population is under the age of 18, this figure was given by Indian Health Service Unemployment: Estimates of 73-85%  /  Per Capita Income: $ 4000 /  Life Expectancy: Male-55 (US Average 75)  Female 60 (US Average 80)  Infant Mortality Rate: Twice the national Average /  Diabetic rate: 37% of the population  / Alcoholism: 4 million cans of beer (10,958 cans each day) are sold every year in White Clay, Nebraska. This town of fewer than 35 people is 1 mile from the reservation. Alcohol sales are illegal on the reservation. Children in Poverty: 69% of the children on the Pine Ridge Reservation live in poverty.
